The Xaverian Weekly was founded as the Excelsior in 1895 as the official student newspaper of Saint Francis Xavier University. The Xaverian Weekly is the voice of students, and uses its platform to hold the University, and the Students’ Union to account.
The Xaverian Weekly is published by the Xaverian Weekly Publications Board and is editorially autonomous. We publish fifteen issues per academic year, including special issues on elections and social justice topics.
What is a Columnist?
At The Xaverian Weekly, our writers are assigned to stories in any section of the paper.
Staff Writers may vary their topics, or choose to stick to a specific theme.
Key Responsibilities
Write at least two articles per issue in your section.
Attend all XW meetings.
