The Xaverian Weekly

The Xaverian Weekly was founded as the Excelsior in 1895 as the official student newspaper of Saint Francis Xavier University. The Xaverian Weekly is the voice of students, and uses its platform to hold the University, and the Students’ Union to account.

What is a Writer?

At The Xaverian Weekly, our writers choose one section of the paper to write articles in throughout the year. Writers may vary their topics, or choose to stick to a specific theme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write at least two articles per issue in your section.

  • Take or source relevant photos to accompany your articles.

  • Collaborate with Section Editors and Editors-in-Chief to edit and refine articles before publication.

  • Attend all XW meetings.
