We are currently hiring Copy Editor, Distributions Manager and Reporter positions for the 2017-18 news team, as well as for our Creative and Multimedia Teams. Business Team: 

Distributions Manager

The Distributions Manager delivers the physical papers when the XW is published and records trends in demand among all news stands. 

Creative Team: 

Creative Director

The Creative Director is responsible for creating the XW print cover for each issue and managing the overall visual components of the XW. The Creative Director will work closely with the Section Editors and coordinate assignments for the Graphic Designers and Photographers.

Graphic Designers (2)

The Graphic Designers are responsible for creating visuals for stories where photographs are inconvenient to acquire, as well as in-house promotional products. Potential graphics include infographics, illustrations, promotional posters, social media graphics, and other print media (ie. stickers).

Photographers (2)

The XW Photographers are responsible for obtaining photographs pertaining to stories selected by Section Editors and Creative Director.


The Cartoonist/Illustrator is responsible for creating hand-drawn visual content at the request of Section Editors. Applicants may have skills in cartoon, illustration, or both.

Multimedia Team:

Multimedia Director

The Multimedia Director is responsible for maintaining the XW's live presence, including live-tweeting, live-streaming, and real time video content. The Multimedia Director will ensure that the XW’s online presence is professional and will pursue new and innovative ways of engaging our audience online. This includes but is not limited to live broadcasts (both video and radio) and interactive graphics/content. They will also oversee the Front End Web Developer and the Social Media Producers. 

Front End Web Developer

The Front End Web Developer is responsible for uploading all content to the XW website, furthering web development, and presenting a compelling user experience. The Front End Web Developer is also responsible for suggesting and implementing new online features, including interactive stories and live feedback.

Social Media Producers (2)

The Social Media Producers are responsible for curating social media content and creating weekly updates for online. As this is a new position, the Multimedia Producers will work closely with the Multimedia Editor and the Editor-in-Chief to develop the XW's online presence. Skills with video are considered an asset.

Editorial Team: 

Copy Editor

The Copy Editor is responsible for editing all written content published in print or online. 

Assistant Editors (News, Opinions, Culture, Sports & Health)

Assistant Editors are responsible for writing one article per week for their respective section and editing for style and copy. The Assistant Editor may be asked to temporarily take over the responsibilities of a Section Editor where and when required.

Senior Reporters (4)

Senior Reporters will submit two articles per each print issue, one of which must be for the News Section. They must be able to write with a sense of fairness and conduct themselves professionally. Reporters must be available to cover events and stories at an editor's request.
